Lake Buchanan Fishing Report

On the water · January 8, 2006

Opened the 2006 season on Lake Buchanan with a pair of healthy winter largemouth. I fished another club tournament here and already knew a place that could turn into a win with the right bites. After showing up first thing, I started working over an area with some underwater vegetation. It was the right place, and I caught quite a few largemouth on a dark-colored Rat-L-Trap - a new color they had just come out with, mostly black with a few different colors on its bottom side. That lure worked great. After the bite slowed down, I switched to a craw worm, since they love it on this lake, and finished out my limit. At the end of the day I ended up in 3rd place. Not a bad way to start the year. Good times!
